Poncho and Slouch Hat Set

Cowl neck ponchos are trending right now in the Crochet World.   A ribbed cowl is not only warm but it’s also a fashion statement and head turner.  The cowl can be worn up or rolled down.  You can chose any 4 colors you like and a matching slouch hat can be included at an additional charge.

Not Good Day

My other website http://www.thecrochethooker.com took a turn for the worst.  I took it as a sign, out with the old and in with the new.  It will take me some time to fix this one up.  Please enjoy my first published pattern on Ravelry.

Poncho Frenzy

There seems to be a poncho frenzy going on in the crochet world.  The poncho can be found on Simply Crochet Facebook page.  What caught my attention was the texture of the collar.  The back and front post double crochet created a thick ribbing effect.  Be warned, the cowl part is a yarn eater.  I was a little skeptical about the cowl but to my amazement that is what makes this poncho so special.  The cowl can be worn up or down.  The cowl reminds me of something from the medieval times.

Poncho Progress - Finished Cowl

The colors I chose were from Red Heart (Carrot, Buff, Aran, Coffee) and the green was from the Vanna White Collection.  I chose the colors based on the amount of skeins I had in that color.  The choice of colors were completely random.

I’m tall and I wanted to see how it looked on a live person.  Pam was very happy to model for me.  WTG Pam, you look great.  It wasn’t quite as long as I wanted it to be so I added more rows.

Poncho Progress - Pam

This was an easy project for a beginner.  You may want to watch a video from Moogly on front post double crochet and back post double crochet.  I omitted the fringes but you can your own edge type.  I can see myself making more of these and trying a different neck style and edging.
