Crochet Mojo

It’s that time where I can’t find anything to crochet or find something to make that will hold my attention.  I’m not even interested in yarn sales either.  I hope I’m not getting sick, lol.  Seems like I’ve been in this situation before, hmmmm last year around this time…..

This must be my slow down time and recharge period 🙂

While I’m in this slump I’ve crocheted some random items.

Long School BusI work in a school by day and I thought it would be cool to make some school themed items.  This Hop on the Bus ,Gus!  scarf jumped right on my hook. I even found my WIP of this project from a couple of years ago when I first started out.  After crocheting a few rows I quickly remembered why I abandoned it in the first place.  RANT TIME – I like crocheting in short rows not long rows, hence that’s why I don’t like making blankets.

Finishing a project was my main goal and I forced myself to continue.  It turned out to be quite a fun project that worked up quickly.  Not to much counting stitches and color changes.  You can do so much with this design from adding letters to headlights.

Half BusWhat a great gift for Bus Driver Appreciation Day.  It takes a real special person to drive school bus, kudos to you.

Since I was on a school theme check out the pencil scarf.

Start on a few of these now so you will be ready when the kiddos return to school.  What I love about a scarf is you can make it as long or short as you want.  Go crazy and make some for your whole family.

I’ve been on a dishcloth kick and I got bored of the regular rectangle dishcloths.  The Little Quaker dishcloth gives me the chuckles.  I had some left over bright yellow cotton yarn that came in handy.  If I make this again I will add some feet.

Baby did someone say baby.  OMG this Elephant Baby Hat and Diaper cover was such a delight to make.  I can’t wait to see pictures of the little one who it was made for.  Don’t be afraid and mix and match patterns.

I found this cute set in a box and I do not know about the pattern.  I think I freehand the hat and no clue about the scarf.  I may keep this set for myself.

I’m so proud that I’m actually using yarn in my stash.  I was using these colors to make a make a bag that I lost interest in a long time ago. That’s one of the perks of crocheting, you can reuse the yarn.  I used my imagination…

Sparkly Hat

I freehand the cowl using the basket weave stitch and some double crochets.

This is what happens when boredom sets in.  The intentions were to make a few more in bright colors but I only got around to making one.  Just in case you are wondering, it’s a Bobble Bracelet

From the looks of things I don’t think I lost my crochet mojo.

What are some of the things you crochet in your down time?

Happy Hooking!

I started crocheting again after many years. Back then when I thought of the word crochet a granny square comes to mind first. No one was wearing crocheted clothes and the fad of crocheting died. I picked up a hook and some yarn and I was on my way. No more granny square blankets for me. Thanks to the internet you can learn anything you want and if you search just a little bit further you will find people who share your passion. I immediately I became enthralled in Pinterest, Ravelry and Facebook crochet groups. If I ran into a snag there was YouTube, I can learn a new stitch from a live person. So two years later here I am, a certified crochet addict and lover of yarn.

If you are a die hard crocheter you will understand. I have so many WIP’s going on at one time until I confuse myself. The attack of the yarn has made it to my home. Yarn has found it’s way from my computer room, bedroom, and now it rests in the family room. Pretty funny having my son’s friends over and they are moving yarn to sit down and I provide the entertainment of showing them my finished work. I think that’s the real reason why they want to come by so much.

To combat the many unfinished projects I decided to keep an online presence of what I do, make and find on the web.
