Goals Are Meant To Be Achieved

2017 Goals
2017 Goals

Happy New Year and may you have a blessed 2017.

Goals are meant to be achieved will be my 2017 challenge.  Everyone does a New Year’s resolution and says “new year, new me”. I’m guilty of that also and within a week everything that I had planned to achieved failed.  Most often we set unrealistic goals and we set ourselves up for failure.

There have been many times when I have told myself no more yarn, no more storage containers, no more craft stores, no more crochet patterns, you get the point.  It’s nothing wrong with having these things but my problem is organizing all of it.  I have bags and boxes of new yarn scattered throughout my house.  You know, out of sight out of mind!  My yarn stash is a major battle and I can’t get it organized until other areas of the house are organized.  I’ll save this for a later time.  Back to my goal.

It’s impossible for me to organize and clean in one day so I had to break my assignments into smaller segments.  For me it was best to start small and work my up to larger areas.  I started with the guest bathroom and my bathroom.  You never know how much hair and makeup product you have until you start cleaning.  Old makeup, lotions, hair products and things I just don’t use were all thrown away.  I’ve found brand new, never opened eye shadows and some that I’ve forgotten all about.  I made two piles, the keep pile and the sell pile.  Why not turn my unused items into $$$.  There’s nothing wrong with the makeup and it would be  great for someone starting out in the makeup world.

After a couple of weeks of keeping my bathroom clean it gave me a good feeling every time I went in there.  Everything was neat and in place.  The counter top is clean and everything I use has a home.  Before I leave out in the morning it is a habit to make sure my bathroom is spotless.  So you can teach an old dog new tricks, lol.

That’s one goal down for 2017 and I’m quite proud of myself.

For more ideas on organizing ideas/solutions head on over to Home Storage Solutions 101.  I’m participating in the 52 Week Home Organized Challenge.  There’s something to organize or declutter everyday and it would only take about 15 minutes of your time.  Your focus is only on one area of the house, unlike my focus, which is all over the place.

What are some of your goals for 2017 and where do you go for your inspiration?

2017 Goals

Crochet Mojo

It’s that time where I can’t find anything to crochet or find something to make that will hold my attention.  I’m not even interested in yarn sales either.  I hope I’m not getting sick, lol.  Seems like I’ve been in this situation before, hmmmm last year around this time…..

This must be my slow down time and recharge period 🙂

Creative Mind

While I’m in this slump I’ve crocheted some random items.

Long School BusI work in a school by day and I thought it would be cool to make some school themed items.  This Hop on the Bus ,Gus!  scarf jumped right on my hook. I even found my WIP of this project from a couple of years ago when I first started out.  After crocheting a few rows I quickly remembered why I abandoned it in the first place.  RANT TIME – I like crocheting in short rows not long rows, hence that’s why I don’t like making blankets.

Finishing a project was my main goal and I forced myself to continue.  It turned out to be quite a fun project that worked up quickly.  Not to much counting stitches and color changes.  You can do so much with this design from adding letters to headlights.

Half BusWhat a great gift for Bus Driver Appreciation Day.  It takes a real special person to drive school bus, kudos to you.

Since I was on a school theme check out the pencil scarf.

Pencil Scarf

Start on a few of these now so you will be ready when the kiddos return to school.  What I love about a scarf is you can make it as long or short as you want.  Go crazy and make some for your whole family.

I’ve been on a dishcloth kick and I got bored of the regular rectangle dishcloths.  The Little Quaker dishcloth gives me the chuckles.  I had some left over bright yellow cotton yarn that came in handy.  If I make this again I will add some feet.

Baby did someone say baby.  OMG this Elephant Baby Hat and Diaper cover was such a delight to make.  I can’t wait to see pictures of the little one who it was made for.  Don’t be afraid and mix and match patterns.

I found this cute set in a box and I do not know about the pattern.  I think I freehand the hat and no clue about the scarf.  I may keep this set for myself.

Purple Hat and Scarf

I’m so proud that I’m actually using yarn in my stash.  I was using these colors to make a make a bag that I lost interest in a long time ago. That’s one of the perks of crocheting, you can reuse the yarn.  I used my imagination…

Sparkly Hat

I freehand the cowl using the basket weave stitch and some double crochets.

This is what happens when boredom sets in.  The intentions were to make a few more in bright colors but I only got around to making one.  Just in case you are wondering, it’s a Bobble Bracelet

Crochet Bracelot

From the looks of things I don’t think I lost my crochet mojo.

What are some of the things you crochet in your down time?

Happy Hooking!
