Twisted Textured Pillow

The Twisted Textured Pillow was inspired from the Statue of Liberty Pillow by RedHeart.  I thought it would be fun to design and make my own.  I love bright colors and I thought the orange and green would be nice for the summer.  Scroll on down for the pattern.

Twisted Textured Pillow

Supplies:  Big Twist Value Yarn –  6 0z/170gm

Colors:  Pumpkin and Lime

Crochet Hook: H(5mm)

16 X 16 Pillow Form

Tapestry Needle

Scissors

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

fpdc – front post double crochet

Notes:

Ch 3 counts as stitch.

Make sure your foundation chain is wide enough for your pillow by adding  or subtracting stitches.

Before you find your rhythm crochet a couple of rows and measure it against your pillow form just in case you need to make some adjustments.  Be sure to allow for the fluff (height) of your pillow.  In this example the square measured 16” and I was lucky that it stretched a bit.

Stitch count given once unless it changes.

Gauge:  4 X 4 = 15dc X 8 rows

I wouldn’t worry about the gauge so much

Instructions:

Multiples of 2 + 3

Make 2  (Should measure approximately 16 ½ X 16 ½)

Row 1:  (RS)  Ch 57, skip 3 chs (counts as st), dc in next st, dc in each ch to end, turn. (55)

Row 2:  (WS) Ch1, sc in same st, sc in next st to end, turn.

Row 3:  Ch3, *fpdc around dc one row below, dc in next st; repeat from * to end, turn.

Row 4:  Ch1, sc in same st, sc in next st to end, turn.

Row 5:  Ch3, *dc in next st, fpdc around dc one row below; repeat from * to last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 6-53:  Repeat rows 2-5 12 times and end at row 5.

Finish off and weave ends.

With right sides together seam/whipstitch 3 sides.

*I single crocheted mine around*

Flip outside in and insert pillow form and seam/whipstitch last side.

Fluff and you are ready to show off your new Twisted Textured Pillow.

Hope you enjoyed this quick and easy pattern.  Please share on social media.

Happy Hooking!

Statue of Liberty Crochet Pillow

This will be a real quick post.

July is right around the corner (at the time of this post it’s here) and the end of school is now complete.  To kick off my first summer project I chose the Statue of Liberty Crochet Pillow by Michele Wilcox for RedHeart.  Being a native New Yorker I would be partial to the Statue of Liberty.  I must admit after living in NY for over 30 years I’ve never visited “ole lady liberty”.

My son constantly reminds me that I do not need anymore yarn.  I’ve made a conscience effort NOT to buy anymore yarn.  So far, so good.  I’m using what I have stockpiled around the house.  I look at my yarn as eye candy, he sees it as clutter, lmao.

All I needed were 16X16 pillow forms and of course I had quite the collection of the size needed.  No worries, they were on sale at the time.  Pillow forms can be found using the link below or at your favorite craft store.

My pillow was made quite differently as far as color choices.  The instructions were easy to follow and the project worked up quickly.  It took me four days to complete and that was because I’m working on other projects.

The pillow may look red but it’s really a magenta color.  That’s my handsome son below who looks thrilled to be holding a pillow.

He calls this the fakest smile ever.  This is the back of pillow that was done this way on purpose.  I figured if I got tired of looking at the front I can flip it for a different look.  Two pillows in one, hooray for me!
